The Sirens consists of all female paddlers and races in the Women’s Open classification. Talk about fierce competitive paddlers with a fire-breathing dragon inside crossed with “Chicago-Flare” and you have a good idea of the Sirens. Friends off the water, warriors on it. Awesome people who support one another and bring out the best qualities really defining the meaning of TEAM.
For the adult athlete, no matter your level of physical fitness, we have a team for you. Our experience shows time & time again, people who say “I am not a competitive athlete” emerge with a fire-breathing-dragon from within. GCDBC will help you find that dragon, ignite it, and find a home for it across one of the following teams!
TEAM BLUE CHICAGO
Team Blue Chicago is Adaptive Adventures paddling abilities team that consists of veterans, disabled veterans, individuals with physical disabilities and volunteer supporters. You will not meet a group more welcoming, dedicated or able-bodied to competitively paddle a dragon boat as Team Blue Chicago. Congratulations to all the athletic members of Team Blue Chicago for making the most of 12 weeks of paddling sessions on Friday nights! Esprit de Corps, "Gung Ho", Semper Fidelis - are terms you'll hear expressed from Team Blue Chicago as they hit the waterways hard demonstrating their strength and abilities. GCDBC has a long history of partnering with Team Blue Chicago volunteering coaching time and resources to make access easy, convenient and consistent for the athletes.
Our affiliation, support, and partnership with the Heat International team of paddlers brings the best, strongest, most experienced paddlers together to race at the highest of competitive levels against the best performing Club teams across the World. We honor and welcome our Heat affiliated teams: Canada (Belleville Heat, Heat on Ice, Rogue Heat); USA (Pacific Heat, Southern Heat, Tennessee Heat, Wisconsin Heat). We open our boats, our friendship, and support and look forward to your visits with us.
We follow and work to emulate the Athlete Code of Honor. To the Competition: “I respect your existence and thank you for your gift of competition. You will make me stronger. I will do everything within my power to defeat you.” To my teammates: “You can rely on me to work hard, stay strong, and always be prepared to complete. I do this for YOU!”
